Volume 39: Good People, Relaxing Ambition, Delicacy of Friendship

Welcome to the Mind Fuzz newsletter, a recap of three things that are on my mind this week.

1. Good People

If you had to put a percentage on it, how much of your time do you think is spent with people you don’t like vs. people you do like?

I wrote about this topic in this week’s article and want to expand on it slightly here.

Isn’t it funny how we’re free to do anything we want with our time, yet we often find ourselves around people who don’t motivate us and, at times, even repulse us?

I am very fortunate to love the people I work with, but what if you didn’t?

That’s 1/3rd of your week spent with people you don’t like.

Is it any wonder most people wake up dreading the day ahead?

Having the ability to say no is so powerful, and it really does emanate through all aspects of one’s life.

2. Relaxing Ambition

Ambition is cool…

But have you tried just chilling out for a second?

We’re always go, go, go.

Chasing, chasing, chasing.

We hardly ever take the time to reflect on what we’ve actually built for ourselves.

If you were to show Jack from five years ago the current version of me right now, he’d be so happy.

Even though the current version of me constantly ruminates on the fact that I’m nowhere near where I should be.

That feeling usually stems from a comparison to others.

But as long as your current self blows your old self out of the water, that’s really all that matters.

3. Delicacy of Friendship

“Being in someone’s life… a very delicate thing.”

Some random tweet

I saw a tweet I adored this week.

I’ve never looked at it like this before, but I think the older I get, the more this is starting to make sense.

Changing someone’s life, for better or for worse, is easier than we think.

Sometimes all it takes is one comment or one experience.

That’s delicate.

If that’s not enough of an incentive to start surrounding yourself with people who make your life better, then I’m not sure what is.

Picture of Who is Jack Waters?

Who is Jack Waters?

He used to be a journalist, then he got bored. Now he writes about random stuff on the internet.
