Welcome to the Mind Fuzz newsletter, a recap of three things that are on my mind this week.
1. Restful Creativity
When do your best ideas come to you?
When you’re walking through nature?
When you’re in the shower?
When you’re trying to get to sleep?
See, there’s a common theme between those three scenarios.
They’re all environments when your mind is at rest.
When you’re not scrolling or consuming.
My best ideas come when I’m not near anything to write them down on.
Less input = more output.
The mind takes a while to process things.
If we just keep adding more information, we don’t give the necessary space for this to happen.
You’ll be amazed how creative you are when you’re doing nothing.
2. Healthy Jealousy
Do you get jealous when you see others winning?
Yes, you do.
I do too, though I try my best not to.
I think we have to reframe it.
Seeing others win is just a good reminder that it’s possible for you and I.
Especially people who are close to us, in the same environment, with the same tools available to them.
Jealousy can be a great precursor to motivation and inspiration.
You just have to learn to funnel one emotion into the other.
A little bit of jealousy can be really helpful.
Don’t let it eat you up.
Use it.
3. Attention
“To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work.”
Mary Oliver
I’ve been thinking about this quote all week.
I am at my happiest when I’m truly focused on something.
Living fully in the moment.
It’s why I’m addicted to the flow state that comes with writing.
It’s why I love watching sport, blasting my favourite songs in the car and playing (and winning) board games with my friends.
I find whenever I’m not attentive, life sucks.
Even worse – when I’m wishing time away because I’d rather be doing something else…
THAT sucks.
A pursuit of a life full of attention and flow…
Maybe that’s the goal we should all aim for?
Idk, could be the move.
Love ya’ll x
