Volume 33: Reconnecting, Perfect Days & Sonder

Welcome to the Mind Fuzz newsletter, a recap of three things that are on my mind this week.

1. Reconnecting

This week I’ve been trying to reconnect with nature as much as possible.

I’m talking beach swims during my work lunch break type stuff (bless Australian winter).

I’ve had extra incentive after seeing a meme.

It was a view of a beautiful mountain with the text “humans saw this then invented Microsoft Teams.”

I laughed but wanted to cry.

We have gotten so lost along the way.

But isn’t it amazing how so many of our problems can be solved by just stepping outside and reconnecting with the very thing we forcefully disconnect ourselves from every day?

Nature is always there waiting, no matter how much we neglect it.

Seek it out.

2. Perfect Days

I pretty much lived my perfect day on Monday.

Gym.

Sauna.

Writing.

Coffee.

Sunshine.

Grass-fed steak.

Zero commitments.

It made me think… if I was rich I would pretty much just do that every day.

Which made me think again… my happiness/fulfilment bar is kinda low (which is great).

Which made me think for a third time… holy sh*t I’m actually kind of close to living a life I truly love.

Here’s a little test for you this week.

If you were financially free, what would your perfect day look like?

Maybe that life of fulfilment you’re chasing is actually closer than you think.

3. Sonder

“It is not his fault that he does not see things the way I do.”

Piranesi – Susanna Clarke

Sonder.

The realisation that each person is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.

Unique thoughts.

Unique emotions.

Unique experiences.

How, then, could they possibly see the world the same way that you do?

This harmony that we say we desire will never come from people living the same way and believing the same things.

Sonder makes this impossible, through no fault of one’s own.

Acknowledging this… maybe that’s the harmony we’re seeking.

Stop trying to change people’s minds.

Change your own.

Idk, just a random thought I had in nature this week.

Picture of Who is Jack Waters?

Who is Jack Waters?

He used to be a journalist, then he got bored. Now he writes about random stuff on the internet.
