Volume 55: Just Being, Slow Content & Long Sleeves

Welcome to the Mind Fuzz newsletter, a recap of three things that are on my mind this week.

1. Just Being

I feel like I’m so stagnant in life at the moment.

But it feels… nice?

From last week’s article on the insane growth of the $55B self-improvement market: “That kind of growth doesn’t happen unless a lot of people are buying into the same idea: the idea that they constantly need to be improving.”

I think I’ve just stopped buying into that idea.

There’s definitely a part of me that’s weary of becoming too complacent, but sometimes just ‘being’ is nice.

2. Slow Content

I’m on a mission to consume slower content.

I’ve watched like 20 movies in my life (horrible, I know) but I want to change that.

Started with Notting Hill this week, was cute.

Isn’t it wild that our attention spans have been so utterly destroyed by short-form content that sitting through a two-hour-long movie now feels like therapy?

Anyhoops, reply to me with your best movie recommendations and I’ll endeavour to sit through them (and might even give you a review).

3. Long Sleeves

“They don’t know I’m not a long sleeve guy.”

Some guy online

Saw this Instagram reel this week that made me laugh (sorry I should’ve saved it so I could link, in future I will).

It was a guy walking around in public with the caption ‘they don’t know I’m not a long sleeve guy’ whilst wearing a long sleeve shirt.

A meme when said out loud, but literally the internal dialogue so many of us have when doing something seemingly ‘out of character’ for the first time.

No one cares if you change your hair or wear something you don’t normally wear, they’re busy paying attention to themselves and worrying about what you think of them.

Isn’t that liberating?

Also read this week’s article, it’s good I think.

Picture of Who is Jack Waters?

Who is Jack Waters?

He used to be a journalist, then he got bored. Now he writes about random stuff on the internet.
