Volume 8: The Bitcoin Fallacy, Cleaning The Pipes & Losses of Life

Welcome to the Mind Fuzz newsletter, a recap of three things that are on my mind this week.

1. The Bitcoin Fallacy

Well, Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency world is booming… yet again.

As I write this, one bitcoin is worth $103,000 AUD and is poised to break through its all-time-high. And just like every boom before it, people are painfully regretting not buying more.

It’s so easy to see the 232% price increase over the past 12 months as easy money missed and a huge opportunity lost. But stop looking at it through rose-tinted glasses.

Buying Bitcoin when the market is low is hard. That’s why people don’t do it. It’s a speculative asset that could go to the moon or crash and burn. No one truly knows.

Those who have made a good profit on Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies have taken on a high amount of risk and are being rewarded for it.

If you didn’t buy when the prices were low, it’s because you weren’t willing to take on that risk.

So what is there to regret?

2. Consuming Less to Create More

I’ve been going through a bit of a creative dry-spell recently.

When I sit down to write, my little old brain pipes just seem to get clogged up and nothing wants to come out.

I’m finding if you want to create better stuff more often, you have to give your mind some time to rest.

Less input (Netflix, YouTube, music, social media) = more output (creativity)

Our brains are so busy trying to process everything we’ve just scrolled past that it never gets a chance to rest and create. We put so much value on physical rest, but mental rest is an afterthought.

I notice that when I’m consuming more and not taking the time to sit quietly, in silence, my creativity suffers.

Boredom can do magical things for those brain waves.

3. The Losses of Life

“Embrace your losses as fair payment for the surplus of being alive,” Kieran Saroyan.

How f*****g good is this quote?

Life can beat us down pretty bad sometimes, but we often forget that’s the price we pay just for being here.

Yeah, none of us really asked to be born – but isn’t it incredible that we get to play around on a floating rock for almost a century before evaporating into space again?

Your losses are all part of the experience.

Though they might not feel great at the time, they really are the best way to grow.

The worst times of my life have made me who I am today.

As long as you learn from them, how can they be a negative thing?

A closing question for you

Why the hell didn’t you buy Bitcoin ya numpty?
